Cornwall Air Ambulance
710 missions last year with no funding from Government, of which 20 were in the Bude area.
Eight doctors have joined the paramedic aircrew and they fly on-board for at least three days a week. When not tasked with missions the physicians assist the paramedics in developing enhanced clinical knowledge and skills via simulation and teaching sessions at the Newquay airbase.
The crews are trained and equipped to fly in the hours of darkness thanks to Night Vision Imaging System (NVIS) goggles, specially adapted cockpits, a 30-million candle power searchlight and advanced mapping. Cornwall Air Ambulance has extended flying hours to 12 hours a day, 365 days a year.
Every penny counts to keep them in the air!
