45. Château Rieussec

Sauterne/Graves, Bordeaux, France. 2003
  • Half Bottle £41.00
This wine was ranked as a Premier Cru in 1855. It is made with 90 to 95% Semillon, 5 to 10% Muscadelle and Sauvignon Blanc, and aged 18 to 26 months. A classic full-bodied Sauternes, that is a deep golden-yellow in colour and packed with lusciously sweet, honeyed fruits. (Berry Bros & Rudd) The average critic’s score was 94 pts, but James Suckling scored this wine at 98 pts. Robert Parker actually rated 2003 Rieussec higher than d’Yquem! The 2001 vintage sold out when Wine Spectator scored it 100pts and named it Wine of the Year. (Rupert Brendon) (7) 13% vol
