38. Pinot Noir, Hamilton Russell

Walker Bay, South Africa 2014/15
  • £59.00
Pale Pinot Noir with a touch of age to the colour. Lovely strawberry-note aroma is transformed into a wine of consummate balance and elegance on the palate and finish. (Walter Hicks) We tasted this wine in February, 2016, when we were entertained by Anthony & Olive Hamilton Russell overlooking their vineyards. The 2012 vintage was given a score of 93 by Wine Spectator, and won the Decanter World Wine Awards awarded the 2008 vintage Gold and the 2013 vintage Silver. Cool climate, soil and winemaking methods, similar to Burgundy make this pinot noir a ‘clone’ of the French original. (Rupert Brendon) (C) 13% vol
