44. Gevrey Chambertin, Domaine Chanson

Côtes de Nuits, Burgundy, France 2011/12
  • £94.00
Very refreshing aromas of red berries mixed with spices and vanilla. Well-integrated oak note and refined tannic structure. (Walter Hicks)My wine epiphany happened in my teens when my father treated me to a dinner in London, and he ordered a bottle of Gevrey Chambertin. Until that moment I had never tasted something so complex, so sublime – for me it was a life-changing spiritual experience! The House of Chanson is one of the oldest and larger owners with 25 hectares of Premier Cru vineyards, and a total of about 45 hectares of ‘owned’ vines in Beaune. Wine Spectator scored this wine at 90pts. (Rupert Brendon) (C) 13% vol
