24. Louis Roederer Brut Premier

Champagne, France NV
  • Bottle £69.00
Pale gold colour, fine fruit aroma with biscuit hint. Fine flavour with the biscuit lees note, enriching throughout. Very good and complete. (Walter Hicks) From the makers of the famous Cristal, this champagne house at the end of the 19th century became the choice of the Russian Imperial court. Equal parts of pinot noir and chardonnay, supplemented with 10% of pinot meunier. The real secret comes later when up to a third of cask-aged reserve wine is added to the final blend. Average Critics’ Score 90pts, but Wine Spectator Magazine gave it 92 pts. (Rupert Brendon) (1) 12 vol
